Accordion reed waxing tool.
This tool is used for resetting reeds in accordions that use a wax reed setting. Brass blade is sharpened on the edge to fit in between close fitting reeds.
Blade is soldered to iron with high temp solder and riveted in place with brass rivets for good thermal conduction. These work well at full temperature but will smoke if left sitting. I use a corded lamp dimmer in line with the iron. You can adjust the temp this way for the work you are doing.
Do not use regular wax on accordions. The correct wax is a mix of beeswax, rosin, and linseed oil among other things.
With this tool I roll it into 1/4" sticks and touch them against the side of the blade and let the wax run into where the blade is touching.
